Myspace was pretty cool. I didn't hardly talk to anyone, but boy did I love vamping my profile page! After a while, all the premade stuff I found sucked. I didn't want to look like everyone else, because let's face it, I'm not like everyone else.
So, I downloaded an editing program (Photofiltre) and a bunch of fonts and brushes, and started doing my own thing. I made tons of images and headers, backgrounds and buttons. I had quite a fan base too. I know over 10,000 friends.
[Random stuff I made...the dancing chick on the left is my all time favorite! Made it from scratch with a random picture of a girl on Google. The sad face on the right is actually me.]
I forgot how much I loved doing this until yesterday when I downloaded a new program that's compatible with Mac OS (Gimp) and set off to make myself a new header.
I'm really really really tempted to start making stuff again.
What do you guys think? Like my new blog header? Buttons? Should I make some basic stuff and throw it up for free (with maybe a Paypal donate button)? Would you use something I made if you could choose from different styles and then have me customize with your blog name?

Actually, I used to have a layout site on myspace. Graphic design is really fun but unbelievably time consuming. Eventually, I lost inspiration to create anything.
ReplyDeleteI say go for it! You're pretty talented. You don't want that inspiration to go to waste.
I won't hold Myspace against you if you won't hold Xanga against me. :P
ReplyDeleteThe blog looks fantastic, and if designing is something you enjoy, then do it! I'm sure there are people who would use your stuff if you wanted to put it up. You could also use banners and things as prizes if you ever hold a contest, like for someone's book... Just throwing that out there.
Have a great weekend!
What was your site name? I had one too and I too lost inspiration after a while. I got tired of coding and stuff, I just like making things on photoshop.
ReplyDeleteAmanda, thanks! I'll probably play around with a few things and see where that leads me!
I had a myspace too back in the day. I used to do all kinds of things with my profile as well. So much fun. I never had 10 000 friends but I actually met a lot of people from myspace and made some serious life long friends.... Those were the days!
